Why are g3 magazines so cheap
Germany is selling off their surplus. All my steel mags have dates on them, i only buy steel so i can weld the base plates on after i block them ive noticed out of all mine they are dated.

I bought 25 cheap when I purchased my PTR. Of those, one was dented and didn't work, several of the others were in good to brand new in the paper condition. I haven't had any issues with the aluminum magazines. Haven't ever tried the steel ones. The G3 is still one of the Pak Army's standard issue rifles, so I would guess that they either manufacturer the magazines under license or can still buy them from HK they use the MG3 also.
But they also use and refurbish lots of older equipment, so they may be continuing to use stockpiled magazines, like you suggested. Would be curious since I wouldn't mind adding a couple for reference and that is cheaper than I have seen elsewhere.
Aluminum mags are good to go, assuming they are not beat up. Steel mags are great, but heavy. Are these mags drying up? Haven't seen any NIW "surplus" offered from the usual sources in some time. I was looking at this maybe for one of my personal buids Not Templar but I do remember reading that magazines adapted from none rotating bolts rifles fal,and G-3 are not easily adaptable to operate from rotating bolt rifles AR With regards to magazines, my experience with the Armalite magazines has been great.
The 20 and 25 round AR mags I own all run and have yet to show any issues. I would really like to know more about any issues people have had when using this set up Which is more reliable? Armalite used to use modified M14 magazines during the AWB. They knocked the front locking lug off, and made a separate cut for the new lock up.
When the AWB went away, they came out with their own proprietary magazine system. As far as the G3 mag lowers, I may have been a little too negative, however I had heard through the grape vine that they were problematic, especially the CMMG lowers that were being brought out last year.
The Finns used G3 magazines that they modified for use in some of their commercial Valmet M78's in 7. Which is a damn shame, since the mags are so damn inexpensive.
