No user activity is needed. One simply selects the target disk, and clicks Next. Creating multiple partitions on one physical hard disk can either increase performance or decrease performance. Boiled down, an SSD is usually a faster-but-smaller drive, while a mechanical hard drive is a larger-but-slower drive.

Enter into the Windows 10 Disk Management interface. First, back up your data. However, after a period of time, MBR might not be able to meet the performance needs of SSD or your storage device anymore. That is when you have to change your disk to GPT. The following will show you the details. Resetting this PC will delete all your installed programs. You can choose whether you want to keep your personal files or not. It should be just as good as installing Windows 10 from scratch. Click the New button to create additional partitions with the remaining space.

You can always perform after the installation. Select a partition to install Windows 10 Once you complete the steps, the setup will install Windows 10 on the custom partition you created. After the installation, you will need to go through the out-of-box experience OOBE to create an account and finish configuring the installation. If you did not use the remaining space, you could use these steps to create an additional partition to store files and other items:.

Right-click the unallocated space on the drive and select the New Simple Volume option. Specify partition size for a new drive Click the Next button.

Assign a drive letter to the new partition on Windows 10 Click the Next button.
