There are more than 11, moth species in the United States, and they cover the spectrum from small, nearly nondescript individuals to spectacularly bright moths 7-inches across. Their beauty comes in subtle contrasting browns.

The dingy cutworm has crisp sharp lines. The zales, like the widespread lunate zale, have an extreme camouflage.
